For days on end the local and national news stations reported on the wildfires that were spreading across central Texas but I did not understand the severity of it until I observed it for myself. I could not have imagined what I saw that day as I drove through Bastrop.
It was a Sunday afternoon and my family and I were headed home after spending the weekend at a family reunion that left us joyful and thankful for the blessings in our lives. But, as we traveled down Hwy 71 our hearts sank. The devastation was everywhere and it wasn't done yet. My thoughts immediately went to the families and how they must be feeling; I said a silent prayer for their well-being and strength during this horrible time of tribulation.
As a builder and remodeler in Houston, I have witnessed firsthand the trauma experienced when someone's home is destroyed. Hurricanes Allison and Ike tore Galveston and Houston apart. I was called upon to help many families put their lives back together and I was honored to do so. I believe a home is more than just a roof over your head; it is the place where memories and traditions are created.
On that Sunday afternoon I knew I wanted to help the families in Bastrop rebuild their lives because there are so many in need. Local builders will be overwhelmed and because this is a time sensitive issue, everyone who can serve the community should. Bastrop families need reputable builders and remodelers that can and will assist them through this troubling time and for a long time after.
The Gryphon Builders business plan was to expand into the Austin and surrounding areas within the next two to three years; however, because of the tragic circumstances we are facing, I have decided to accelerate these plans. We have already established relationships with quality companies to provide the best resources and products available.
We realize that life doesn't stop when something like this happens; people still have to go to work, children must continue going to school, and everyone wants their daily lives to get back to "normal" as soon as possible. To alleviate some of the frustration we are providing a full range of services for the victims of the wildfires. The rebuilding process requires communication and negotiation with insurance agencies, claims adjusters, engineers, architects, city and county officials, and then the builder. We would like to help by being the single resource for organizing the parties involved with this process and executing the re-construction of your home.
My heart goes out to the families affected by this awful event; I would consider it a blessing to help in any way I can.
