With previous experience building custom homes with Cameron Armstrong Architects, I have learned that Cameron's homes are always a challenge. First, because he has the visions of an Artist and second, the rough structure itself is what defines the finished product. There are no moldings or architectural add-ons to dress the living areas. Instead the rough frame and placement of windows and doors are dressed by the light flowing through and around them to become the finishing effect and elegance.
The concepts for this home were that it be built in precise sections that would all flow from one form to the next. As you look at the structure of the building, you can see each section and the way they fit so well together. The idea of elevating the home on piers was for a cost savings but, Cameron loved the concept of the floating spaces that were anchored by the garage and stairway columns.
The walls and ceilings are finished in semi-gloss white paint so, the framing and surface area needed to be absolutely perfect. The use of innovative products like: 3/8" Cold Rolled Steel Countertops in the kitchen, Stained concrete for the shower walls, the floating slate powder sink and custom maple cabinets became art on a white canvas backdrop. The intimate interior space is enlarged by the constant view outside to more living area with 1500sf of decks surrounding the home.
